he dynamics surrounding the collision of an oceanic plate with a denser continental plate is depicted in this Bargello made with Oakshott fabric for the QuiltCon in Pasadena 2016. Kimono Silk and metallic threads were used in a walking foot attachment to create movement on this cross sectional view of California. A small movable “hexie” embroidered “You are Here” indicates the relative position of the Pasadena viewer’s to the subduction zone. Reverse side features Liberty Lawn.
