Color Circle Illusion

O

ptical illusions use color, light, and patterns to create images that can be deceptive or misleading to our brains.  Dominating black rectangular blocks pull the focus of the eye so that the non-existing "color circles" are seen peripherally.  Four large foundation paper pieced blocks and 8,800 inches of hand-quilted running stitches (at 1/2" intervals) with "glow in the dark" thread create a perception that, in reality, does not match the true image.
