Montana Night Sky

the absence of man-made light gives a new meaning to "negative space"

O

riginally designed foundation paper pieced stars and trailing trapunto stars depict the multitudes seen in rural Montana nights where the absence of man made light leaves vast empty space between them. Late summer sunsets produce gradients of blue.  Use of metallic thread highlights the “twinkle” component.  Frame-less free motion quilting was done on this 60”w x 72”h quilt constructed with Pure Elements fabric by Pat Bravo for Art Gallery Fabrics.  Kimono Silk and metallic thread both by Superior threads.  This quilt was part of a Special Exhibit of the Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild, presented at the Arizona Quilters Guild’s 2019 “Jewels of the Desert” show.
